Haruhi Episode 11 - Remote Island Syndrome Part 2

I know this is an extremely late release, but it's finally done nonetheless. There are also a few updates I would like to announce. As most of you probably know already, my season 1 subs were taken from Hitsuji, which were in turn taken from the original creators, a.f.k., and modified/edited by Hitsuji. It has come to my attention through posts in various forums that people would prefer I add in song translations and/or karaoke to the opening and the ending credits. While I'm not a firm advocate of using karaoke, I thought that the requests for the song translations were reasonable.

So this is the format that I will do future episodes in: 1) Karaoke and song translations will be available for both the opening and ending songs for season 1. 2) For season two, it is basically the same as season one except that there will be NO karaoke. 3) Season one was and will continue to incorporate dual audio. As for season two, there are no dubs for it so only single audio.
4) All future episodes of Haruhi will contain "(2009)" in the filename. I thought by now people would have already figured out which episode is which, but guess I was wrong.

While I'm not very fond of utilizing karaoke, I'm adding it in for season one due to the fact that it's readily available. The karaoke was initially done by Hitsuji but edited by me to make it readable and not appear all over the place. Before the karaoke haters whine about this, I'm going to point out that it will be done via softsubs, so you can have the option of turning it off/on whenever you want.

Future Episodes + Late Notice

Sorry about being so late on the releases, I've been busy the past couple of weeks helping with my sister's wedding. Not sure when I'll have some free time, but once I do, I'll probably release the next few episodes in sequence or in a batch.

Haruhi episode 9 and some updates

There were some delays with episode 9 due to the unavailability of any decent raws. I didn't want to release a crappy version since most of the people that comes here have already watched season one from 2006. As with the previous season one episodes, the subtitles for ep 9 are from a.f.k.

As for ordered chapters, I've decided to stop doing them for my future releases. Seems like most of the people that are pro ordered chapters either said it's not a necessity or they don't care either way. I know that not everyone uses the same operating system or the same player that can support ordered chapters. And more people being able to enjoy the releases outweighs the benefits of some disk space.

Guess it's back to watching the NBA finals for me.

POLL: Ordered chapters -or- No ordered chapters

As the title states, do you prefer ordered chapters or no ordered chapters? I've released season 1 of Haruhi in dual audio and ordered chapters but I realize that not everyone would prefer having ordered chapters. For starters, ordered chapters mean having the OP and ED in separate files which can reduce the size of the main file while retaining the same quality. Although it saves space, not everyone prefers having them since they claim it as an "incomplete" file. In essence, it is no different than the full file provided that your media player can support linked files and that both your OP and ED are in the same folder as your episodes.

Not many people realize that ordered chapters require significantly more work for the encoder and they simply think of them as just a nuisance and couldn't care less with the space that ordered chapters save. If people prefer having ordered chapters, I don't mind the extra work and can continue to do it for future episodes of Haruhi. But if you think having them is too much of a hassle for you, then I can do future releases with just the normal file instead of making ordered chapters. I'm not sure how to use an actual poll or if blogspot can even support that kind of feature, but you can leave comments and even a simple "yes" or "no" will suffice. So let me hear your opinions!

I'm currently encoding a higher quality raw for episode 8, so expect a release of it soon.

The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya episode 08

I've finally finished the translation and timing of episode 8. Took longer than I expected since doing everything by yourself isn't pretty. Before anyone asks, yes this is in 1280x720 resolution. It might not look quite up to par with my previous releases visually due to the quality of the source that it was encoded from, but this was encoded from the best raw that I could find. As I had stated before, if a higher quality raw becomes available in the future, then I will do another release for episode 8 using the better raw. Episode 8 is equivalent to episode 1 of season 2, I kept the numbers in order as to not confuse anyone.

On a side note: This is my first translation of an actual anime episode, so I guess this is also a milestone for myself. As always, let me know if there are any problems with my releases, any comments are appreciated.

I've noticed that when I created this blog, I didn't change the default requirement that you must be registered in order to post comments. This may seem like an unnecessary thing to do especially for a relatively new site such as this. I have now disabled that feature and anyone can post comments now. So feel free to post any comments, even on past episodes that you may have wanted to comment on, but just didn't feel the need to register to do so.

The last episode of season 1 is finally out. This is the final episode of season 1 as of now, new episodes from season 1 will likely air somewhere in the near future. Due to the antics of Kadokawa, the release schedule is not set in stone, and therefore no one really knows for sure when each episode will air and we can only speculate. The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya 01-02 (720p dual audio with ordered chapters)

Hey everyone, so this is my first post on this blog and I just want to give a little introduction about myself. I'm new to the fansubbing scene and right now, my group only consists of 1 member, myself. The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya is my first project and I decided to work on it as a challenge for myself. Since the english dub is readily available and with ordered chapters becoming more common, I decided to challenge myself and see if I can get those 2 things to work together. As of now, I don't think I've seen any release that incorporates both dual audio and ordered chapters. And Haruhi is a good place to start with the new high quality re-broadcast.
